The Great Commission

By Tesia Nagorka

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  – Matthew 28:19-20

These are the last words Jesus shared with His disciples before ascending into heaven – we should take them to heart! Jesus commands us to reach out to the people around us and share God’s love with them. What Jesus has done in your life, He doesn’t want you to keep for yourself. He wants you to share His saving grace with others! This is His will, for you to share the love of Christ and His healing power to all the nations – and He gives you the power to do it!

We all know people that don’t know Jesus or what He did to save them. If you had a life-raft, wouldn’t you cast it to someone you knew was drowning? When we know the power of God’s saving grace, we’re to share it with a lost and hurting world! God has given you influence so that He can shine through you into the lives of others. God’s heart is to use your life to transform your friends, family, coworkers, and beyond!

The best part is that you don’t have to do it on your own. Jesus promises that He will be with you always! Instead of trying to reach people in our own strength, God gives us the power of the Holy Spirit! His spirit works through us, changing hearts and transforming lives.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” – 1 Peter 2:9

“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.” – Luke 8:16

“And then He told them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” – Mark 16:15
